The aim of the exercise is for a group of 14 cyclists to pedal from our base at the Royal
Naval Air Station Culdrose in Cornwall down through France and Italy to the US Naval
Air Station at Siginella in Sicily, a distance in excess of two thousand miles, and to do it all
within two weeks!
A crazy idea but one which should provide an enormous challenge and adventure
for all those involved whilst giving us the opportunity to raise some serious money for
charity. To celebrate our fortune at being physically able to do this all monies raised
will be shared between two very appropriate and hugely deserving causes. The principal
one is Lydia Cross, the 5 year old daughter of a fellow serviceman who lost both legs to
meningitis, to enable her to have the best prosthetic limbs available and secondly the
British Limbless Ex-Serviceman's Association (BLESMA) who provide invaluable
support to many of our ex-colleagues scarred by conflict.
